The Joe Perdue Bursary was established in 2015 in memory of CMAA’s Joe Perdue, the pioneer of club management education in Europe, and who was instrumental in assisting CMAE to establish the extremely popular Management Development Programmes.

Marc Newey, ECEF CEO, said that the quality of the applications was extremely high giving the ECEF Board a challenging job in identifying the worthy recipients.

The two recipients have expressed a great deal of gratitude and satisfaction upon receiving the awards.

On receiving his bursary award, Pedro said:
“I feel very honoured to receive this prestigious award. I will take this opportunity to enhance my profesional knowledge and broaden the networking with all my golf industry colleagues. Excited about implementing all improvements with my team at Real Golf de Pedreña.”

Paul added “It was quite fitting to receive the news that I had been awarded one of the Joe Perdue Bursaries whilst in the middle of first class education at an MDP2 in Stirling. Kevin Fish one of the facilitators gave a tribute to the man after hearing my news during class. We all owe a deal of gratitude too Joe for his effort and enthusiasm in helping establish education and development opportunities for our industry. I love my work and I am determined to continually improve. Getting the opportunity to access the education at the World Conference in 2023 will be a highlight of my career. I’d like to thank all of the people within the industry that have been so supportive, embracing and sharing. CMAE and the SGCMA have given me somewhere to turn too through the steepest learning curves of my career. Thanks also go to my club who have provided me with support to develop myself. I’d encourage all to apply in future. If I can achieve this, then anyone can.”
