Roehampton Club in London has made history by becoming the first Club in Europe to have three Certified Club Managers (CCM) within its management team, underlining its commitment to professional development.
The club’s management team includes Marc Newey CCM, CCE (Chief Executive Officer), Debora Drago CCM (Deputy General Manager), and Simon Baker CCM (General Manager) – each of whom has successfully completed the Club Management Association of Europe (CMAE) Business Management Institute (MDP/BMI) pathway, earning the globally recognised CCM designation.
The CCM is the highest level of professional recognition in club management, awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence across leadership, governance, finance, operations, and member experience. It is widely regarded as the global benchmark qualification for senior club management professionals.
Marc Newey, CEO, commented:
“Passing the CCM exam as the zenith of Club management qualifications is a rewarding experience. It shows your Club’s leadership that you know your subject and shows your staff that you believe in CPD and that you’re always learning from others.
I have pushed all my management team through the CMAE MDP programme and to have both Simon and Debora as CCM’s along with myself is fabulous.
Roehampton Club is fortunate to have such well-trained managers. With Rhys Beecher CCM succeeding me as CEO in July the Three CCM’s will still be managing the Club!”
Torbjörn Johansson, CEO of CMAE, commented:
“Roehampton Club’s achievement in having three Certified Club Managers within its leadership team is a remarkable example of commitment to professional excellence and continuous development. We are incredibly proud of Marc, Debora and Simon, and we congratulate Roehampton Club on setting a new benchmark”.
This milestone highlights Roehampton Club’s long-standing commitment to investing in its people and developing a leadership team grounded in best practice, global standards, and continuous education.
