In a recent survey only ‘death’ came above public speaking in a list of factors that people most fear.
Dr David Dann presented a seminar on the skills and techniques of Powerful Presentations at the Army & Navy club on Tuesday 26th February which aimed to improve the presentational techniques of those who attended.
The group included highly experienced managers from both London clubs and golf clubs and included Jerry Kilby, CEO of CMAE.
The seminar concentrated on improving individual presentation skills and confidence and was highly practical with everyone making a number of presentations to the group on a wide variety of topics.
Making presentations is an integral part of the life of most club managers and early discussion made clear the very wide range of audiences to which members spoke and the frequency with which this occurred.
Some of the topics covered during the day included the tricks and techniques of great presenters, presenting with confidence, the importance of preparation, using Powerpoint and visual aids, adapting to the audience, answering questions and how to deal with difficult people!
Some of the comments from those who attended included; ‘very good day’, ‘very interactive, positive and encouraging’, ‘very good to boost self confidence’ and ‘great ideas to take away’.
