CMAE’s Management Development Programme (MDP) Part 1, hosted at the K Club, Dublin last week, was a great success all round.
The programme was jointly hosted by the Confederation Golf Ireland (CGI) and the Irish Golf and Club Managers Association (IGCMA) and was supported by Gaming and Leisure Skillnet.
Delegates from golf, city and hospitality clubs enjoyed presentations by leading educators, including Bill Sanderson (Leadership), Sharron Ruttledge (F&B), Kevin Fish CCM (Governance), Michael Braidwood CCM (Marketing) along with a session from the PGA as well as sessions on statutory compliance. On the Monday evening the K Clubs’ sommelier Lisa O’Doherty provided a detailed wine education session in the cellar of the hotel.

Launched in 2011 the highly regarded Management Development Programme has now been held on 52 occasions throughout the UK and Europe. The programme delivers top class education to club managers and senior staff on all 10-core competencies of modern club management.
Commenting on the success of the programme, IGCMA Executive Officer Michael Walsh, said “we are delighted by the success of the MDP to date. We ran our first Part One course just under two years ago in Ireland and have followed it up with a further three programmes including two dedicated F&B programmes. The programme is going from strength to strength in Ireland and we are experiencing more demand due to the high quality of the education along with the exceptional testimonies provided by our previous delegates. My thanks go out to the Confederation of Golf Ireland and Gaming and Leisure Skillnet for partnering with us on this programme.
The MDP pathway was originally developed by the Club Managers Association of America and thanks to their vision and generosity has been given to CMAE who have adapted the materials for the European Golf, Sports and City Club Markets.
