The course focused on the 10 core competencies of running a club successfully and featured sessions presented by Darshan Singh on Management to Leadership, Steven Brown on Food & Beverage, Patrícia Carvalho on Club Legislation, Duncan Ritchie on Club Financial Management, Bill Sanderson on Marketing in Clubs, David Roy CCM on Club Governance and facilities management and Torbjorn Johansson on Career Development.

The course was the first ever MDP to be held in Portugal following the success of the taster session in 2018 where 25 managers from the Portuguese club industry attended to learn what the Management Development Programme had to offer.

Torbjorn Johansson, CMAE Director of Education commented “To see 27 delegates on our debut course in Portugal was delightful. There is clearly a demand for club industry specific education in this region as shown by the success of our taster session and now MDP 1. We look forward to growing the MDP in Portugal and seeing the benefits assimilate into the health of the industry”
