Nineteen Golf Managers from Scotland, England, Spain, Norway and Switzerland attended the residential Managing Training Programme (MDP) course – MDP 3 recently hosted by CMAE in Scotland’s capital Edinburgh.
MDP 3 – Strategy and Leadership, is the latest and highest level course in the executive education pathway provided by CMAE and consisting of five residential courses covering all of the competencies of the modern club manager.
The delegates with programme designer Dr Jason Koenigsfeld 2nd in from the left, programme facilitator Kevin Fish bottom left and presenters Gregg Patterson and Elaine Patterson centre.
The delegates benefited from a schedule that focused specifically on raising their leadership competencies whilst delving deeper into topics such as advanced financial management, personal development, club ethics and marketing demographics. The delegates also had their Lumina Leadership Profile analyzed to help them become better and more aware leaders.
Presenters on the course were John Bull, Gregg Patterson, Dr Jason Koenigsfeld, Russ Conde, Chris Hicks, Rob Hill, Ken Harvey, Elaine Patterson and Kevin Fish, CCM.
Course Facilitator and Chair of CMAE’s Education Policy Board, Kevin Fish, said “For some time now we have been gradually changing the perception of club management in Europe, and this latest MDP leadership course will see club managers return to their committees with a far greater insight into the crucial skills and techniques required to succeed. This is the fifth piece of the educational jigsaw provided by CMAE and it is hugely rewarding for me to see the managers put all of these pieces together at their clubs and in their careers. We have already received some moving letters from delegates who are benefiting from their commitment to continuous professional development and who are now demanding that we create more opportunities to help them further develop. What a great feeling that is.”
MDP 3 Strategy and Leadership is the fifth and final course, developed by CMAE and it completes the pathway that sees club industry professionals across Europe embark on an educational journey to enhance their overall abilities to run successful clubs.
Within this pathway there are two levels of qualification: the European Club Management Diploma which is attainable after completing MDP Parts 1 and 2 and the coveted International Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation which can be obtained by examination after completing MDP parts 1 – 3 plus either MDP F&B or MDP Golf.
The MDP pathway was originally developed by the Club Managers Association of America and thanks to their vision and generosity has been given to CMAE who adapted the materials for the European Golf, Sports and City Club Markets.
