The Club Managers Association of Europe’s (CMAE) Management Development Programme (MDP) Level 2 was a roaring success for the London and Home Counties region of CMAE last week in Bournemouth.

Twenty delegates from golf, city and sailing clubs enjoyed presentations by leading educators, including Rick Bond, Bill Sanderson, Kevin Fish and Helen Bennett.

Launched in 2010 the highly regarded Management Development Programme has been promoted and courses held throughout the UK and Europe. The programme delivers top class education to club managers and senior staff on all 10 core competencies of modern club management.

The MDP programme was underwritten and hosted by the London and Home Counties region of the Club Managers Association of Europe which firmly believes that progressive and on going education for club managers will contribute to the continuing growth and development of clubs in their region.

Their Chairman, David Balden, who gave the opening address at the programme said “we are delighted by the success of the MDP to date. We ran our first Level One course just over a year ago and have now followed it up with this Level Two course. Both have been well subscribed due to the quality of the education along with the exceptional testimonies provided by the delegates; we are already taking bookings for our next MDP Level One course in early 2015”

The MDP pathway was originally developed by the Club Managers Association of America and thanks to their vision and generosity, has been given to CMAE who have adapted the materials for the European Golf, Sports and City Club Markets.

Feed back from the delegates was outstanding and organisers were pleased to hear feed back such as:

“I would like to thank you all for such a great experience. What a week!!!”

“I’d just like to say thank you one and all, I have gained more than I had hoped over the past week in Bournemouth and … I am certain that my club and I will benefit for years to come.”

“What a week, inspiration from my colleagues, wise words from the speakers and great networking all round.”

“I think we all took positives from the week and have formed a network that can only benefit our clubs and ourselves moving forwards.”

The next MDP programme being organised by the London and Home Counties region is a MDP 1 programme from 26th – 30th January 2015 in Bournemouth.
