Sunday 25th November 2012 marked the first day of a new era for The Wilmslow Golf Club. The opening of its all new practice facility encompassing The Player Performance Centre managed by Wilmslow’s award winning Head PGA Professional Matthew Gillingham.
Sunday 25th November 2012 marked the first day of a new era for The Wilmslow Golf Club. The opening of its all new practice facility encompassing The Player Performance Centre managed by Wilmslow’s award winning Head PGA Professional Matthew Gillingham.
The facility was the brain child of Matthew and a focused committee and has been 18 months in the making from design, planning application, build and fit-out.
The project has given an already extensive practice area a new lease of life by maximising the potential of a 300+yard long range with up to seventeen golfers now being able to hit balls at once.
Wilmslow has invested in its practice area to enhance the benefit to its existing members and has cut no corners in making sure the build quality of the undercover bays is second to none and with premium golf specific artificial turf for winter usage along with premium range golf balls as used at world renowned venues such as Wentworth and Turnberry, there is a real feel of excellence about the whole facility.
Matthew commented;
“Our goal was to deliver a product that stands up against any other private members clubs and guarantee our practice facility is in-keeping with the quality of our Championship Golf Course.”
The facility has been kitted out with the latest equipment including TrackMan, the market leader in ball flight analysis for use in conjunction with golf tuition and customer fitting along with high speed cameras for video analysis.
General manager of the Wilmslow, Keith Melia added;
“The members are very excited about using the new facility and as this permits all year round practice and tuition and we are already seeing an increase in the numbers utilising the facility.”
The Player Performance Centre is open for tuition and customer fitting to the members and non-members and is appropriately named as it has been fitted out to help golfer’s achieve maximum performance out of their game. The performance centre is an authorised fitting centre for all the top brands and provides a five star customer experience with the beautiful Cheshire countryside as a back drop.

“We have seen a big interest from the local area, golfers who are currently not members of a club are now coming to Wilmslow to inquire about membership as they can see the added value with such a facility included in the annual fee.”
“Tuition wise it is a big plus, the professional team at Wilmslow can now coach 7 days a week, come rain or shine (and even snow!) and therefore pupils have no hassle in committing to improving their golf during the off season.”
