The Club Managers Association of Europe’s (CMAE) Management Development Programme (MDP) hit a significant milestone in Scotland last week when the 100th golf club manager successfully completed the MDP level 1 programme.

Launched in 2010 the highly regarded Management Development Programme has been promoted and delivered in Scotland now for the fifth time. The programme delivers education to club managers and club industry professionals on the 10 core competencies of modern club management.

The MDP programme is underwritten and hosted by the Scottish Golf Union and Scottish Ladies Golfing Association (SGU/SLGA) in Scotland who firmly believe that progressive and ongoing education for club managers will contribute to the continuing growth and development of golf there. The SGU/SLGA Development Manager Kevin Fish said of the milestone “we are delighted by the success of the MDP to date. The demand for the programme is going from strength to strength due to the quality of the education along with the exceptional testimonies provided by the delegates”

Kevin Fish is also head of the CMAE’s Education Policy Board and has been responsible for creating the education pathway for club managers throughout Europe. The pathway was originally developed by the Club Managers Association of America and thanks to their vision and generosity, it has been given to CMAE who have adapted the materials for the European Golf and Sports Club Market.

The CMAE’s newly appointed Director of Education Michael Braidwood commented “the response to the Management Development Programme in Scotland has been phenomenal and our thanks goes out to Kevin and the SGU for making this happen.”

The most recent MDP L1 was delivered at Stirling Management Centre. Delegates were treated to presentations by leading educators, including Steven Brown, Bill Sanderson and Duncan Ritchie along with a host of specialist presenters from across Scotland.
