CMAE hits magnificent milestone with 100th MDP course

The Club Managers Association of Europe is celebrating yet another huge milestone for the association as they host the 100th course of the renowned Management Development Programme.

The Management Development Programme was launched in 2011, with the first ever MDP 1 piloted in Scotland at Stirling University. Since then, nearly 2000 delegates have attended courses hosted in 11 different countries across Europe and the Middle East.

The MDP has since become renowned as the leading education programme for current and aspiring managers in the club industry and recommended by industry leaders and employers.

The CMAE’s MDP is a series of week long (Mon-Fri) education courses focused on the Core Competencies of Club Management, all designed to help Club Industry Supervisors and Managers become more informed, perform better at their jobs and help them progress on their career path in Club Management.

The MDP forms the pathway to gaining the Club Management Diploma (CMDip) and the globally recognised and coveted Certified Club Manager (CCM) certifications.

The MDP pathway was originally developed by the Club Managers Association of America who have been successfully running the programme (called BMI) since the 1980’s.

CMAE recognised the need for a formal academic program for the European Club industry that mirrored the standard of education being offered to club managers not only in America, but throughout the world and thanks to the vision and generosity of CMAA, the programme was gifted to CMAE who adapted the materials for the European, Middle East and Northern Africa’s Golf, Sports and City Club Markets.

Commenting on the successful milestone was CMAE President James Burns CCM who said “I am extremely proud of what CMAE has achieved since the launch of the MDP programme in the 10 years since it was launched in 2011. The programme continues to go from strength to strength due to the quality of the education along with the exceptional testimonies provided by the delegates. On behalf of the CMAE I express our gratitude to the many organisations and individuals who have and continue to support and develop our education programme.”
