Paul Youngman, General Manager of HaningeStrand GK has become the first Swedish Manager to attain the CMAE Club Manager Diploma
Paul Youngman, General Manager of HaningeStrand GK has become the first Swedish Manager to attain the CMAE Club Manager Diploma. The Diploma is awarded across Europe by CMAE as a key qualification in their Management Development Programme (MDP).
After completing the GAF Swedish Golf Club Manager Education, Paul attended the Management Development Programme part 1 and part 2 courses, which was then followed by delegates being set and submitting a work based assignment which looked at and resolved a problem at their own clubs by applying key learnings from the MDP curriculum.
Commenting on his success Paul said “I am very proud of this achievement, after finishing the Swedish Golf Club Manager Education programme and joining the MDP Pathway. CMDip was a challenge that I felt combines the best things from the two worlds.
I am delighted to be the first manager to get the CMDip in Sweden. I hope more managers will follow since the personal development is huge, but also getting tools to use at the Club.”
Launched in 2011 the highly regarded MDP Pathway has already been promoted and delivered in Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, France, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Portugal and Italy. The programme delivers top class education to club managers and club industry professionals on the 10 core competencies of modern club management.
Torbjorn Johansson, Director of Education of the CMAE, said of Paul’s success “I am delighted to be able to present the Diploma certificate to Paul and see him putting the knowledge to good use back at his club. I have had the pleasure of following Paul in his strive for excellence. We hope that more managers in Scandinavia will be inspired by people like Paul putting commitment and dedication to his personal development”.
Thomas Ahlberg, President of GAF Sweden & General Manager at Bokskogen Golf Club also commented “We are happy to support CMAE, being an Alliance Partner. Great to see one of our Managers continue the path of education after taking part in the highest education program for Managers in Swedish Golf. It felt as a natural step after we have co-hosted a MDP Taster and also the MDP 3 Strategy & Leadership in Stockholm during the last year.”
