The success of the four candidates raises the number of Certified Club Managers in Europe and the Middle East to 65.
In order to sit the CCM exam, all candidates had to complete the full Management Development Programme (MDP) pathway, attend the World Conference on Club Management in the USA and accumulate enough education and association credits within CMAE guidelines in order to become eligible. The CCM exam itself is a seven-hour examination, combining a multiple choice test along with a written case study.
The CCM designation has been the hallmark of professionalism in club management since 1965 and is the cornerstone of CMAE’s education programme. It is a valuable and widely respected mark of a manager’s commitment to professional development and the club industry.
Commenting on their success was Chris Duffy CCM. “When I started the CMAE journey in November 2016 I was unemployed and searching for a route back into Club Management. I was recommended the CMAE MDP education pathway and went onto complete all 5 MDP’s in 14 months leading to my first General Manager appointment. Five years on from the start of my journey I am delighted to have now achieved CCM status.
The CMAE has not only provided me with access to an industry leading educational program with world class facilitators, but also given me the opportunity to expand my peer network which combined have allowed me to become a more accomplished professional. I can only thank all those facilitators and club management colleagues involved in my journey!”
Claire Llewellin-Davis CCM also commented “I moved into Club management in 2009 after a great 8 years in the Army. Some of the aspects I missed most from my previous career were the opportunities for development, both personal and professional, and the camaraderie of like-minded individuals. I was delighted therefore to discover the Club Manager’s Association (Europe) in 2017. Toby and his talented team have provided a fantastic education in all aspects of Club management in the journey to CCM accreditation and made it a thoroughly rewarding and enjoyable experience along the way. I am very pleased to have found a new tribe of fun, talented and professional colleagues and friends, and I am enjoying applying all I have learned to be the best I can be.”
Cyprien Comoy CCM, is our second CCM in France. He said “These 4 years to the CCM exam have been a fascinating and enlightening journey. I feel grateful to my members supporting the investment and trust, the passionate presenters who have been supportive along the way, and the incredible tribe of delegates. I look forward to pursuing my commitment to education, passing on the torch to employees at my club or in my country.”
Scott Patience CCM added “I was very proud to be the inaugural winner of the Joe Perdue Bursary in 2016 which gave me the steppingstone to start on the CCM pathway. Since my first MDP course, I have met some fantastic people; having the opportunity to spend a week with twenty likeminded Managers on the Leadership and Strategy course in Stockholm was a true highlight and a genuinely enriching experience.
I was delighted to receive the call from Nigel (Cartwright) to say I had gained CCM. My thanks to those who put faith in me in 2016 and who have supported me along the way.
I cannot recommend the CCM highly enough; the excellent ongoing professional learning and education have helped me to develop my career and relationships, leading me to set up my own Management Consultancy and allowing me to work with many of the Managers I have met through the CMAE network.”
CMAE Director of Education Torbjorn Johansson said “I am delighted to welcome four exceptional club industry professionals to our growing tribe of CCM’s. This is a significant achievement in their professional careers and truly signifies professional excellence.”
