‘The Aspiring Manager’s Awards 2011’ was held at the newly refurbished Four Seasons Hotel on Park Lane on Friday 28th October 2011. For the third year running the CMAE hosted a table and this year put Ian McDowell from Hoe Bridge Golf Club forward.
The award is for hospitality managers who are often new to management teams and have shown to demonstrate a particularly high level of commitment to their organisation and to their own learning and development.
Nine of these individuals gained recognition for their continuous professional development ranging from contact caterers to clubs and to night managers, sales and accounts staff in large hotels.
Introducing Ian was Mike O’Connell, the Senior General Manager at Hoebridge Golf Centre, which is part of the Burhill Group. Mike complimented Ian for his dedication and drive, commenting;
“Ian is extremely driven to succeed; he has a real appreciation of the traditions of the game and a desire to find new ways in which the golf business can be repackaged and improved in order to increase its appeal and accessibility. This coupled with his knowledge and experience in such a variety of golf settings makes him an exciting prospect for any future employers.”
“In his time at Hoebridge he has been instrumental in a number of highly successful sales initiatives including off peak golf and driving range revenue growth.”
This was an excellent evening enjoyed by everyone and the evening finished at 1.00am with dancing and Paul Varney getting first prize on the raffle.
