Office & Membership Manager, Liphook Golf Club

Full-time | Monday–Friday, with some flexibility

Salary: Dependent on experience

Liphook Golf Club is seeking an experienced and highly capable Office & Membership Manager to join its management team.

Reporting directly to the Managing Secretary, this is a broad and important role with responsibility for the day-to-day office function, membership administration and member communications, while working closely with the Operations Manager and departmental leads across the Club.

The successful candidate will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, take ownership of their areas of responsibility and continually look for opportunities to improve systems, procedures and member service.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • overall responsibility for the efficient day-to-day operation of the Club office;
  • management of the Club’s membership administration, including applications, renewals, new-member onboarding, membership records and liaison with the Membership Committee;
  • management of the Club’s waiting list and proactive engagement with prospective members;
  • responsibility for member communications, including the weekly newsletter, website, social media and digital communications;
  • liaison with the Club’s marketing contractor on photography, imagery and content;
  • support for General Committee and other Committee meetings, the Annual Report, AGM and member meetings;
  • oversight and development of IntelligentGolf and other Club administrative systems;
  • coordination and administrative support across the management team;
  • support for Club events, functions and member engagement initiatives; and
  • reviewing and improving office procedures and taking ownership of appropriate wider administrative responsibilities as the Club’s management structure continues to develop.

The position forms an important part of Liphook’s longer-term management structure. As responsibilities across the Club evolve, the Office & Membership Manager will provide a strong central office function, supporting the wider management team and helping to ensure that responsibilities are dealt with efficiently and at the appropriate level.

The Club’s bookkeeping, payroll, accounts and management accounts are outsourced and do not form part of the responsibilities of this position. The successful candidate will, however, work closely with the Club’s external finance team, providing the necessary day-to-day liaison and administrative support.

The Person

We are looking for an experienced, highly organised and proactive individual who combines excellent administration with the confidence and ability to manage a busy office function and provide a consistently high level of service to members and prospective members.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • significant relevant administrative or management experience, including responsibility for an office, membership function or similar operation;
  • experience within a golf club, private members’ club or membership organisation;
  • strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities;
  • excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills;
  • the confidence to take ownership, implement improvements and operate with limited supervision;
  • a strong understanding of member service and the standards and discretion expected within a private members’ club;
  • experience of membership management and administrative systems, ideally including IntelligentGolf or a similar golf operating system;
  • experience of website content management, newsletters, email marketing and social media; and
  • the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues across all areas of the Club.

This is an excellent opportunity to take on a significant role at one of the country’s leading private members’ golf clubs and play an important part in the continued development of its management structure, administration and member service.

Salary will be dependent on the experience and capability of the successful candidate.
