Deputy House Manager, Coombe Hill Golf Club

The Club: Coombe Hill Golf Club is a magnificent parkland course located in Kingston Upon Thames. Designed by J.F. Abercromby, the club consistently ranks within England’s top 100 courses and is among the best golf clubs in Surrey. The club maintains a brilliant reputation for its commitment to delivering an outstanding golf experience in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Duties: The Deputy House Manager will support the House Manager in the overall management of the clubhouse and its facilities, ensuring that members, guests and visitors receive a welcoming, professional and consistently high standard of service.

The role will involve hands-on operational management, including the supervision of clubhouse staff, food and beverage service, member events, functions and day-to-day clubhouse operations.

The role requires the candidate to work with the House Manager on Clubhouse operations as outlined by, but not restricted to, the tasks below:

  • Assist with the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the clubhouse.
  • Ensure all areas of the clubhouse are maintained to a consistently high standard of cleanliness, presentation and service.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for members and staff and will deputise for the House Manager when required.
  • Ensure that opening and closing procedures are completed correctly.
  • Monitor standards of service and address operational issues promptly.
  • Deal confidently and professionally with member and guest enquiries, requests and complaints.
  • Assist with staff rotas, shift planning and holiday arrangements.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock control where required.
  • Ensure appropriate stock rotation, storage and handling procedures are followed.
  • Attend meetings and staff briefings as required.
  • To undertake certain aspects of the club’s Health & Safety obligations.

Requirements: The successful candidate must be able to display the following attributes.

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in hospitality management.
  • Be professional, polite, and well-presented.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience of supervising or leading a team.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Whilst experience of golf club operations would be an advantage, the club welcomes applicants from all suitably qualified persons.

Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with the experience and skills of the applicant.

Hours: The role requires a flexible approach to working hours. The successful candidate will be expected to work a mixture of weekdays, evenings and weekends in accordance with the operational requirements of the Club.

Holidays: 20 days plus 8 statutory days.
