CMAE’s Management Development Programme (MDP) Part 1, hosted at Warwick University last week, was a great success all round.
This was the first time London and Home Counties Region, together with Midland and North region of CMAE had jointly promoted the first part of the MDP programme in this more central location.

Eighteen delegates from golf and tennis clubs enjoyed presentations by leading educators, including Bill Sanderson, Steven Brown, Duncan Ritchie and Kevin Fish CCM, along with sessions from professional bodies, the PGA, BIGGA and XACT. On the Monday evening leading beverage supplier Tolchards provided a wine education session and on the Wednesday evening top golf consultant Eddie Bullock delivered an additional session on the future trends of the club industry.
Launched in 2011 the highly regarded Management Development Programme has now been held on 40 occasions throughout the UK and Europe. The programme delivers top class education to club managers and senior staff on all 10-core competencies of modern club management.
Commenting on the success of the programme, London and Homes Counties Region Chairman, David Balden, said “we are delighted by the success of the MDP to date. We ran our first Part One course just over two and half years ago and have followed it up with a further three programmes. The programme is going from strength to strength in England and we are experiencing more demand due to the high quality of the education along with the exceptional testimonies provided by our previous delegates. My thanks goes out to the Midland and North region of CMAE for partnering with us on this programme.”
The MDP pathway was originally developed by the Club Managers Association of America and thanks to their vision and generosity has been given to CMAE who have adapted the materials for the European Golf, Sports and City Club Markets.
The next MDP programme being organised by the London and Home Counties and Midland and North regions is a MDP 2 programme from 31st October – 4th November 2016 in Warwick.
