2. What does the soil improvement programme involve for your greens?
3. Does the top dressing specification match the soil profile of the greens?
Many club managers will claim that it not important to know the level of agronomic detail that would produce ready answers for the questions above. However, if this is the case, answer the following:
1. What is the main revenue generator for the club?
2. What is the area of highest expense?
3. Where is the area of least audit control?
In many cases, the answer will be the golf course. Who checks that the Course Manager has used science to determine how to husband the grass and not simply followed the advice of the fertiliser salesman?
