Alnmouth (Foxton) Golf Club, established 1869 the 4th oldest golf club in England, celebrating its 150th Anniversary in 2019 are delighted to announce the appointment of a new General Manager, Daniel Harrison.
Alnmouth (Foxton) Golf Club, established 1869 the 4th oldest golf club in England, celebrating its 150th Anniversary in 2019 are delighted to announce the appointment of a new General Manager, Daniel Harrison.
Daniel will took up his new role full time in February 2020 and is familiar with the club and course already having a large network with key members of staff, committee and members and is looking forward to introducing himself to everyone in the next coming weeks.
Daniel takes over from current General Manager, Peter Simpson who has been in this role since 2009.
Speaking about his appointment, Daniel said “I am delighted to be taking up this new role at Alnmouth (Foxton) Golf Club and see this as a great opportunity for me to develop my skills and experience at such a prestigious club. One thing which excites me about this position is assisting the club in delivering the ten year course development plan which includes working with renowned course architects Swan Golf Designs and also Robin Hume Associates Ltd in regards to installation of a £200k replacement irrigation system. I’m also looking forward to the challenges of carrying on the momentum of the clubs 150th anniversary celebrations in 2019 and also keeping the club in a sound fiscal position whilst creating the balance of putting the members first”.
Chairman of Alnmouth (Foxton) Golf Club, Richard Gee said “We are very pleased with our appointment of Daniel to this key role in the golf club. The Club has ambitious plans to become the premier members club in the North East by developing the course and clubhouse and his experience in the local golf market was pivotal in him being chosen as our preferred candidate He’s young, energetic and has the drive which will be required to be successful in such a demanding role”.
Daniel, a Sport Management graduate from Northumbria University started his career working at Longhirst Hall Golf Club for a couple of seasons before taking up his previous role as General Manager of Alnwick Castle Golf Club for the past nine years. During this time he was pivotal in the transformation of the clubs fortunes including the formulation of strategic plan and preparation of an upcoming clubhouse development.
Daniel has proved he can be successful in the local golf market being the organiser of one the
United Kingdoms most popular open competitions the Northumberland Three Castles Golf Competition and also initiating Alnwick Golf Breaks which attracts thousands of golfers into the area every year which will believe will be a perfect fit for our twenty-six bedded dormy house.
Some of his best skills and attributes are within marketing and event management and is particularly looking forward to the helping the ladies section deliver a successful Ladies Northern Counties Match Week in June 2020.
He is a member of both the Golf Club Managers Association and also the Club Managers Association of Europe. Currently he is the only club manager in the North East to have obtained the Club Management Diploma from the Club Managers Association of Europe and has future aspirations to be at the pinnacle of the Club Management industry in achieving certified club manager status.
