About Nairn Golf Club

Founded in 1887, Nairn Golf Club is one of Scotland’s most celebrated links clubs, consistently ranked among the leading courses in the United Kingdom. Set on the stunning southern shore of the Moray Firth in the Scottish Highlands, the Club is renowned for the distinctive location and character of its Championship Course and the warmth of its welcome to members and visitors alike.

The Club holds a unique place in the history of amateur golf, being one of only nine clubs worldwide to have hosted the Walker Cup, the Curtis Cup and the Amateur Championship. Alongside the Championship Course, the Club operates the nine-hole Cameron Course, practice facilities and iconic Bothy halfway house. The club has also become renowned for its Archive room and tours which it shares generously with its guests.

This is an exciting period for Nairn Golf Club. With the Scottish Men’s Open Championship confirmed for 2028 and an ambitious strategic plan underway, we are building a team capable of delivering a world-class experience for our members, visitors and the wider golfing community.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an exceptional Assistant Manager to join the Club’s senior leadership team. This is a broad, high-impact role at the operational heart of the Club, supporting the General Manager across administration, HR, membership services, events, golf operations and compliance.

The successful candidate will act as the General Manager’s deputy, keeping the Club’s day-to-day operations running smoothly and providing the organisational backbone that allows the wider team to deliver an outstanding experience. You will need to be as comfortable handling a complex HR matter as you are coordinating a golf day or communicating with members — this role demands genuine breadth.

What You’ll Do

General Management & Deputy Leadership

  • Act as day-to-day deputy to the General Manager, managing Club matters within agreed authority levels when required.
  • Support preparation of minutes, reports and papers for Board and committee meetings, and coordinate the management team meeting cycle.

Administration & HR

  • Oversee the Club’s administrative function, ensuring all processes are well-managed, compliant and current.
  • Lead HR administration — staff records, contracts, onboarding, and support to managers on recruitment, disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Maintain the Club’s training register and coordinate the annual performance review cycle across all departments.

Membership Services

  • Work with the Administration/Finance Assistant to deliver a high-quality, responsive service to all Club members.
  • Maintain accurate membership records in compliance with data protection legislation.
  • Lead the development and delivery of member communications — newsletters, event announcements and Club updates.
  • Handle member queries and complaints relating to administrative and membership matters, resolving at the first point of contact wherever possible.

Events, Bookings & Golf Operations

  • Manage incoming event enquiries with the Bookings Secretary, converting them into confirmed bookings and coordinating the Club’s event diary across departments.
  • Support the Clubhouse Manager in the planning and delivery of Club social events.
  • Use HubSpot to capture, track and follow up visitor and event enquiries, reporting pipeline performance to the General Manager.
  • Provide day-to-day management support to PGA Professionals, including tee sheet coordination, competition administration, event day management and retail administration.
  • Administer Club competitions — entries, results, handicap correspondence and member communications — working closely with the Golf Operations team.

Marketing, Communications & PR

  • Lead the Club’s day-to-day marketing and communications activity, including the website, social media channels and member newsletters, ensuring content is engaging, accurate and reflects the Club’s brand and identity.
  • Plan and deliver social media content that promotes Club events, competitions, news and the wider visitor offering, building engagement with members and the wider golfing community.
  • Support press and PR activity for the Club, including drafting press releases, coordinating media enquiries and helping to raise the Club’s profile ahead of major events.
  • Work with external agencies and partners on advertising and promotional campaigns as required, ensuring all activity is on brand and delivers good value for the Club.

Compliance & Governance

  • Maintain the Club’s compliance register covering licensing, health and safety, data protection and employment law.
  • Support the General Manager in delivering and communicating the Club’s strategic plan.

What We’re Looking For

  • Exceptional organisational ability — you manage multiple priorities without losing grip on the detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence to deal effectively with members, staff, committee members and external partners.
  • Experience of HR administration and a working knowledge of employment legislation in Scotland.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, well-structured reports, letters and member communications.
  • Comfortable working with CRM systems, membership databases and standard office software (Microsoft 365).
  • A high degree of discretion and professionalism in all matters.
