The Women in Golf Club Management bursary is awarded annually to female current and aspiring managers to attend the Management Development Programme part 1 course.
The European Club Education Foundation (ECEF), the education arm of CMAE, supported by The R&A will provide three bursaries for aspiring female golf club managers for the next three years.
These bursaries will fund a place on CMAE’s very successful MDP education programme. Starting with a place on MDP 1 it is hoped that each successful applicant will progress to obtain their Club Management Diploma (CMDip) , recognised as the club industry’s benchmark management qualification.
The R&A, as part of its commitment to encouraging more women and girls into golf, has funded the three bursaries. Jackie Davidson, Assistant Director – Golf Development at The R&A, said: “We are delighted to supporting these bursaries for female club managers to continue to progress with their education via CMAE.
“The R&A is committed to growing women and girls’ golf through the Women in Golf Charter and personal development and ongoing education through the CMAE pathway is very important.”
Launched in May 2018 by The R&A, the Charter aims to increase women and girls’ participation and membership in golf, encourage more families to enjoy golf as a leisure activity and encourage more opportunities for women to work and volunteer in the golf industry.
Role models in club management are key to demonstrating the opportunity for women to see the profession as a career option within the golf industry.
Applications are now open and will close on 15th June 2025. Women working in or aspiring to work in golf club management are encouraged to apply.
