An exciting opportunity has arisen to shape the future of an historic club (1875) and one of the oldest golf courses in the world (1589)

The Links at Elie have long been regarded as a hidden gem and with this picturesque seaside course now firmly inside the top 100 UK courses and top 20 in Scotland it is a must play on organised trips to the area.  

The club is first and foremost a members’ club, with many lifelong members, a strong junior section and a commitment to long term sustainability and the natural environment. The club has a long-term strategy with  ambitious plans for the coming years.

The historic village of Elie, birthplace of James Braid, is situated in the East Neuk of Fife, a short distance from the home of golf – St. Andrews.

We are seeking a highly professional and experienced Secretary/Manager to lead our team. This is a rare opportunity to join a distinguished club with a proud history and an engaged membership community.

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the club with discretion, diplomacy, and professionalism
  • Liaise with the Club Committee to implement strategic objectives
  • Uphold and enhance the traditions and standards befitting a private members’ club
  • Manage financial performance of a £2m turnover operation, including budgeting, reporting, and cost control
  • Lead and motivate a dedicated team of 33 staff across food & beverage, greenkeeping, competitions and administration
  • Deliver exceptional member and visitor experience with a focus on service quality and attention to detail

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A degree or relevant Club Management qualifications, CCM, CM dip etc.
  • A Proven track record in club, hospitality, or leisure management within a similar environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a member-first mindset
  • Financial acumen and operational expertise
  • Ability to build a rapport with the members.
  • Appreciation for the etiquette, values, and traditions of the game of golf
  • Flexible, discreet, and approachable with a hands-on management style
