CMAE member John Hennessy has been appointed the General Manager of one of London’s Private members’ clubs, The Fox Club.
John has been in the hospitality industry for 20 years having held various positions in some of London’s most iconic hotels, starting at 17 within the housekeeping at The Savoy which was his introduction to 5 star. A stint at sea of 2 years with Princess Cruises which took him truly global and then as Night Manager just after the opening of Home House. A defining role was at The Ritz as Senior Assistant Manager , before joining the St James Hotel & Club as Club and Operations Manager where he was in post for nearly 8 years. His influences remain Brian Clivaz, Henrik Muehle and Stephen Boxall.
John’s latest role sees him take the post of General Manager of the Fox Club, a social club which takes its name from Charles James Fox, one of the former residents of 46 Clarges Street and a renowned statesman, political giant and civil liberty campaigner in the 18th Century.
John has been a member of the CMAE for the past 2 years and has attended the Management Development Programme part 1 and Food & Beverage.
Commenting on his new role John said “The Fox is a wonderful club with a most amazing history. I am joining when there is a firm commitment to refurbishing and establishing us as something very special, intimate and offering a very personal environment. My challenges are to ensure that we are meeting members expectations whilst also adapting to changing tastes. I feel very privileged to be part of the team”.
