The following video is from the TED Conference held in Edinburgh and proposes a new way of thinking about stress. The science of stress is well known: hormones such as oxytocin and epinephrine are released by the brain whenever we are stressed making us more alert and able to deal with potentially dangerous situations.

In ancient man, such stressed situations were few and far between but today, we live with a far more regular state of stress, which brings potential risks to health through the overproduction of stress hormones.

Dr Kelly McGonigal claims that when we influence how we think about stress, there is medical evidence that it is better for our health. Well worth a look: http://youtu.be/RcGyVTAoXEU
