The CMAE England region held their new year networking event on the 23rd January at the City of London Club for the first regional event of the 2020 calendar.

Members gathered for canapés and were able to taste the range of wines offered by Cotswold Wine Imports, founded by Leighton Walker, a CMAE member and Club Manager. Cotswold Wine Imports is a small and niche wine importer focusing on quality Australian wines that typically can’t be found in the UK.
Attending the event Marc Newey CCM, CCE, who is current CEO of the European Club Education Foundation, took the opportunity to honour Nigel Cartwright for his exemplary service to the CMAE over the past two decades.

Nigel was a Founder Member of CMAE, the London and Home Counties Region, Education Policy Board and the European Club Education Foundation. He became the Education Compliance Officer for CMAE, in which he gallantly sacrificed his right to take the CCM exam because someone had to set the questions. Nigel was also one of the key driving forces in bringing the MDP to Europe and facilitated the first ever MDP course held outside of the UK in France.
“Under Nigel’s excellent stewardship of ECEF over the last 9 years it has awarded over £50,000 of bursaries to well deserving young and not so young aspiring Club Managers.” said Newey.
“No one has given more to CMAE and ECEF than Nigel Cartwright- so I am honoured to present the first Golden CMAE Badge to Nigel for his outstanding contribution plus a gift to enable him to enjoy his cruises and holidays with his wife Jenny.”
