CMAE is delighted to announce that its 5th Management Development Course on the MDP pathway will take place in Edinburgh from the 5th to 9th October 2015.

MDP 3 Strategy and Leadership is aimed at those managers who wish to learn how to enhance their management style and tap into their leadership potential in order to operate the club as a business.

Delegates will understand the responsibilities and characteristics required to exert the appropriate levels of power and influence so that their club can develop its creativity while focusing its strategic aims in line with its established culture and traditions.

Particular attention will be paid to establishing and enhancing an effective working relationship with the Committee, whilst mentoring, developing and leading the staff team. Delegates will also be invited to review their knowledge in all competency areas required to achieve success at their club and in their career.

One key component of the week is Lumina Traits and Leadership Assessment. Lumina Learning creates innovative psychometrics and qualifies and maintains a global network of practitioners who specialise in organisational change and long-term improvement. By taking a humanistic approach and viewing people as “human beings” rather than “human doings” Lumina Learning practitioners can help organisations transform their performance by transforming their people. They are passionate about improving personal effectiveness at all levels within organisations.

CMAE’s Education Policy Board Chairman Kevin Fish, who has developed the MDP 3 – Strategy and Leadership programme in conjunction with Jason Koenigsfeld, Ph.D, CHE, Senior Vice President Professional Development, Club Managers Association of America (CMAA), said of the programme:

“The MDP pathway has been designed to build a manager’s knowledge in the ten core competencies culminating in this fifth training course, which as the name suggests, enables delegates to lead their clubs, and address strategic issues within them.
The “Strategy & Leadership” course explores the nature of leadership in modern clubs, and the emotional intelligence required to lead in a variety of situations, depending on the club’s circumstances and the manager’s own experience. We won’t be afraid to explore our managers’ weaknesses in a safe environment, as well as build on those strengths that every manager brings with them.

With sessions covering subjects as broad as club ethics, financial management and professional image, the course is designed to polish the performance of our industry leaders, and is open to managers who have already invested in their career with CMAE, and to those who feel that this course is the most appropriate at this stage of their professional development.

The impressive presenter line up includes John Bull of Tall Tree, Gregg Patterson, Santa Monica Beach Club, Russell Conde, Club Benchmarking, Stuart Ferrier, SportScotland, Chris Hicks, England Golf, as well as Dr.Jason Koenigsfeld, CMAA and Kevin Fish, of the Scottish Golf Union.

The course is being held at the Jurys Inn Hotel, which has a convenient city centre location adjacent to Edinburgh Waverley Train Station.

The cost of the course is £1,200 + VAT, inclusive of 4 nights half board accommodation and the Lumina Learning profiling.
